Let’s disrupt the world one sticker at a time
At the ripe old age of 27, I decided to plunge headfirst into the wild world of stickers. Some might say that's a bit late to dedicate yourself to such a quirky hobby, but hey, life’s a wild ride.
Picture this: I was back living with my parents. Yes, But the housing market was a dumpster fire, and I sold all my furniture. So, What’s a lonely guy to do? Start a sticker shop, of course! I had a business management degree gathering dust, and I figured I might as well put it to use. Stickers seemed like the perfect low cost, low risk experiment to dabble in supply and demand while unleashing my creativity.
I started mixing and matching elements, creating the bizarre ideas that swirled in my head. You know how people say, Put that on a mug? Well, I thought, Why not a sticker? My mind is a peculiar place. But here’s the kicker: the sticker market is flooded. There are enough sticker shops on Etsy to wallpaper the Great Wall of China.
But I was undeterred. I launched my Etsy shop with five half-baked designs and a logo that looked like it was made by a blindfolded donkey. Predictably, nothing happened. Days turned into weeks until. . .BAM! An email! Someone saved my design and ETSY suggested to send them an ad. I checked their profile, with eager anticipation with excitement, only to discover it was another sticker shop. They had ripped off my designs within a week. Classic.
At that point, I said, Heck no! If my work was going to be copied, I'd at least do it my way, away from the Etsy sharks. Inspired by binge-watching Shark Tank, I brainstormed with a friend and devised a plan. I invested in some seriously fancy equipment to make stickers in-house and got to work.
With a handful of designs ready, I pondered what could make my shop unique. Great designs and branding are essential, but they can still be copied. Then it hit me. . . why not share the stories behind my stickers? I could create a blog that would make people laugh, take them on a journey, and give my stickers a personal touch.
Join me as we build a community of quirky sticker enthusiasts and disrupt the world, one sticky masterpiece at a time. Come for the laughs, stay for the stickers, and let’s make this adventure unforgettable!
